Comments Off on Donations to Thrift Store Fuel Mission
The Helena Industries Thrift Store depends on generous contributions from community members to stock the shelves with affordable necessities and unique treasures.
Every month, select special items are featured in our Silent Auction. The Silent Auction runs for approximately three weeks, and offers the opportunity to bid on exclusive, fun, and funky items. The June Silent Auction runs through Sunday, June 25.
Like all sales at the Thrift Store, all proceeds from the Silent Auction support our mission to provide vocational and rehabilitative opportunities to empower people with disabilities in our community.
This month, we are featuring a very special item in the auction: an antique buffet.
The buffet was donated to the Thrift Store by local residents, Carlene and Pat Farmer.
The turn of the century buffet originated with Pat’s family in the Midwest. Pat recalls seeing the buffet as a child when they would visit relatives in Minnesota. The buffet made its way with Pat’s family from Minnesota, to North Dakota, and finally Montana.
Carlene said at some point, they thought about having an antique dealer look at the buffet and make an offer, “but it just never seemed right.”
According to Carlene, “when we loaded it on the trailer Friday afternoon [to go to Helena Industries], that felt right.”
We would like to extend a thank you to everyone like Carlene and Pat who donate items from gently used clothing and house wares to cherished and unique items like the Farmer family buffet.
We couldn’t do it without you.
The Helena Industries Thrift Store is located at 2109 N. Last Chance Gulch (across from Woody’s Car Wash) and is open Monday through Saturday from 10AM to 6PM and Sunday from 10AM to 5PM. Donations are accepted during operating hours. For questions regarding accepted items, hours of operation, and more, please call (406) 442-2033.
