Janet moved to Helena from Seattle more than ten years ago. She and her husband wanted to get away from the fuss and bustle of the big city and Helena fit the type of society they were searching for; a small, closely-knit community nestled in beautiful surroundings. Her decision to join the Board in 2009 was partly due to having a relative with disabilities. She understands the challenges people with disabilities and their families face each and every day. Helena Industries mission to provide employment training and open doors of self-sufficiency strikes a note with her and provides her with opportunities to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities. She’s not afraid to admit that she sees both professional and personal opportunities in her own future, but she still takes time out to play. In her spare time, she’s on the water or snow, playing with her dogs, or creating handmade jewelry and greeting cards. “I love Helena’s population,” she says. “I love the way the community rallies and supports one another, and the variety of events and things to do in the area.”

A board member since 2008, Pam’s decision to join the Board of Directors was prompted by a tour of Helena Industries while she was participating in Leadership Helena. A Montana native, she is originally from Lewistown, which is where she met her husband. They moved to Helena 25 years ago and have been a part of helping the Helena community to grow and prosper ever since. When she’s not busy with work, the community, or the board, she’s busy with her children and their sports activities, including filling the role of coach. A true Montanan, she loves fishing, hiking, and exploring Montana landscapes on her 4-wheeler. She’s as passionate about Helena Industries as she is about her community and family. “I am overwhelmed with all that Helena Industries does for people with disabilities,” she says. “That has always touched my heart.”

Ali started her term on the Board of Directors in 2010. A Montana native, she grew up in the eastern part of the state, but fell in love with Western Montana while attending the University of Montana in Missoula. When her husband’s job brought them to Helena in 2009, she was thrilled, especially since the Capital City was central to family members living in Missoula and Kalispell. Summers are her favorite time of the year in Helena because she can get out hiking, biking, playing softball, and volunteering. She is passionate about giving back to the community and strives to be a strong, compassionate leader in order to have a positive impact on the lives of others. When friends and colleagues told her about Helena Industries, she knew the organization’s purpose fit perfectly with her sense of community involvement. “Helena Industries needed guidance in regards to marketing, advertising, and public relations, so I was happy to offer up my job knowledge to help this organization build its brand,” she said. “What’s more, I love learning about our Consumers (people with disabilities) and how H.I. really does make a difference in the lives of these individuals.”
